Watch out, this place is a SCAM Отзыв туриста про Mayer Loft Suites

I usually never write reviews, but this case is exceptional – as my experience might prevent fellow travellers from losing their money. I’ve booked the night at Mayer Sahkulu Suites on my Istanbul trip in February.
After arriving at the property around noon, I found the doors locked and no one would open them after knocking on them for 10 minutes.
I left to explore the city (with the heavy backpack that was meant to stay at the hotel) and returned later in the evening (around 7pm) to repeat the checkin attempt – same situation. The door was closed, with one one inside. After having found internet in the nearest cafe I’ve called the number provided in the booking reference. The man on the phone kept repeating “please tell me the name of the property you are asking about” over and over like a voicemail. After fifth attempt trying to explain the situation I gave up and went on to book a new place for the night (and I must say I never had problems communicating in English before). Needless to say there were no special instructions from the property (on how to get in) whatsoever.

Later in the night (around midnight; already being in the new hotel) I’ve received WhatsApp message from Mayer Sahkulu staff asking whether I’m going to check in. I said no and explained the situation. They apologised, saying that the reason they didn’t call me earlier is that they cannot dial foreign numbers from their cellphone (!). The next day my credit card was charged with the complete booking price. After speaking with the manager several days later they said "they are using their right to charge a fee because they can". No-more-words : )

There are plenty nice places in Istanbul – choose another one!
