Wonderful trip, perfect guides!
We traveled in Georgia for 10 days (from August 28 to September 6) with our perfect guides, Tea and Lado. Tea and Lado are the best chaperones, kind, joyful, knowledgeable, professional, carrying, offering the greatest options for trips and entertainments. They met us at the airport and brought us back in time. They have a comfortable 7-seat car that easily accommodated our 4-person group, both our guides, and our luggage. Lado is the great driver in the intense city traffic and on the difficult mountain roads. Tea told us many stories about places we visited. She also provided local guides that added details to her stories. She helped us to reserve the best tables in restaurants, close to artists that were performing national dances or singing traditional Georgian songs. We also enjoyed the tasty food and the great vine. During our journey, Tea and Lado became our good friends.Our travel in Georgia was very intense and interesting. We chose 8 different destinations. However, our trips were rather flexible, so we can slightly change them along the way. We visited waterfalls and a natural cave with the Underground River (with the boat trip), we saw two ancient caved dwellings at Vardzia and Uplistsikhe. We stopped at astonishing churches and monasteries (in Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gelati, Gergeti, etc) and visited the Rabati Castle. We cannot forget out walking through Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Borjomi, our travel along the Georgian Military Road and visits to Kakheti’s vineries. This travel was beyond our wildest dreams! It was our best vacation, mostly due to our wonderful guides. The top of our journey was our church wedding (after 39 years of marriage) at the Nativity church of the sacred 11-century Gelati Monastery, the place of Georgian tsar’s weddings and location of tombs of more than 20 Georgian tsars. Due to our guides, we enjoyed the warm welcome and gracious hospitality of Georgia and its people, appreciated its culture and beauty, its great cuisine and tasty vine.
